The analysis of the possible extensions of the freight lines by rail from Zaragoza to Portugal and northern France arises from the interest expressed by some of the partners of the Aragón Logistics Cluster (ALIA). The planned services were presented by the operators Medway and Líneas during these sessions.

In the case of the line to Paris, Líneas is considering two weekly round-trip services in the following two years, from the Zaragoza Maritime Terminal via Portbou border until reaching the French capital city, and even Lille, to the north. In addition, the option of passing through Irun once the works currently underway are reduced can be explored.

As for the lines between Zaragoza and Portugal, Medway is contemplating one weekly service to the SPC Valongo terminal in Porto and to Bobadela in Lisbon. The Portuguese operator would be in charge of the whole service, including the last mile, for which it would provide their container equipment to clients. However, they made clear that in order for these corridors to be profitable round-trip cargo transport would be necessary.
