Renfe, Ineco and DB are awarded advisory contract for Rail Baltica high-speed network



The consortium formed by Renfe, Ineco and German Railways (DB) will provide advisory services during the construction phase of the high-speed line that will link the main cities of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In addition, it will be in charge of defining the operation and maintenance requirements.

The three companies will act as "shadow operator" for the different stages of the construction until the beginning of the services. The tasks to be performed include the definition of the operation and maintenance requirements for construction, assistance in creating the tender documents, and the proposal of the regulatory framework for future operators. In addition, the consortium will provide advisory recommendations on the models and types of supply of the rolling stock needed for passenger and freight traffic. The contract has an execution time of six years and a value of 8 million Euros. First operations are expected to start in 2027.

Rail Baltica

Rail Baltica is one of the main high speed projects undertaken in Europe. The future line will link the most important cities in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. According to the planned schedule, the first operations will offer mixed traffic services and will begin in 2027.
