CAF delivers first refurbished train to Athens



The first unit refurbished by CAF for the Athens Metro has been officially unveiled. This train is part of the contract awarded to CAF in July 2022 by STASY, the transport operator for the city of Athens.

The trains covered by this refurbishment program belong to the eighth series of rolling stock from the former ISAP network and first entered service in the early 1980s. CAF is responsible for refurbishing 14 units on Line 1 of the Greek capital’s metro system. The first unit has been officially unveiled, marking the start of dynamic testing. According to the planned schedule, this train is expected to enter commercial service this summer.
