Comsa develops Neoballast technology

Comsa and Mapei Spain have worked together in the development of Neoballast®. This technology aims to improve ballast performance.

The improvement is achieved by coating the aggregates with a special binder and recycled rubber from end-of-life tyres. This solution increases abrasion resistance, reduces vibrations and noise, and decreases infrastructure maintenance requirements. In addition, it offers a key advantage in environments with limited clearance, such as tunnels, by allowing the thickness of the ballast to be optimised without compromising its performance.
