Renfe has announced that on July 13 it will begin is entry into the high-speed market in France. This debut will start on the route between Barcelona and Lyon, while the service between Madrid and Marseille will start on July 28. Tickets went on sale on June 21 for cheap prices: €9, €19 and €29.

On July 13 the Spanish operator will debut on its own in the French high-speed market with the first of its two scheduled routes on the Barcelona-Lyon corridor. The chosen date coincides with one of the busiest weekends in France because of the July 14 Bastille Day national holiday. These high-speed (AVE) trains will connect the stations of Barcelona Sants, Girona, Figueres Vilafant, Perpignan, Narbonne, Béziers, Montpellier-St-Roch, Nîmes, Valence TGV and Lyon Part Dieu.
The departure from Barcelona will be at 8:22 in the morning to return from Lyon at 14:30. The service will start running from Friday to Monday on the Lyon-Barcelona corridor, except for the first day of service, which will be a Thursday, and the journey time of the entire route will be five hours.
That day will also become a special date, since it will mark the first time that a Spanish train driver will provide commercial service on an AVE train beyond Perpignan.
Fifteen days later, on July 28, the Madrid-Barcelona-Marseille route will start. In this case, Renfe services will connect the intermediate stations of Guadalajara Yebes, Zaragoza Delicias, Camp de Tarragona, Barcelona Sants, Girona, Figueres Vilafant, Perpignan, Narbonne, Béziers, Montpellier-St-Roch, Nîmes, Avignon-TGV, Aix-en-Provence TGV and Marseille-St Charles. In this first stage, high-speed trains will also run from Friday to Monday.
