What has become today one of the most extensive and modern networks in the world, back in 1992 started with a fleet of 18 trains that travelled at 300 km/h along a line of 470.5 kilometres long and which crossed five cities.

Since then, the high-speed network has grown and today it involves 3,726 kilometres of tracks on 13 lines that traverse 57 cities. The rail operator has also a fleet of 229 trains that run through the main points in the country. This way, over 70 percent of the Spanish population can benefit from Renfe’s high-speed services.
