The enforcement of the contract, whose approximate amount is 280 million Euros, is subject to precedent conditions related to the financing of the project, which are expected to be met in the coming months. The project includes the maintenance at Talgo's facilities in Egypt.

The units, which will start to be delivered as of 2024, belong to the Intercity car platform with which Talgo recently won contracts in Germany and Denmark, and will operate long-distance services.

Tested trains

Talgo has completed the first on-track tests of the six trains consisting of a locomotive and 15 passenger cars each that were sold to Egypt through an April 2019 contract. This first project, which started in 2019, amounts to 158 million Euros and includes the integral maintenance of the units for eight years.
