(22/01/2020)

With this contract, Stadler Valencia has ordered a total of 79 Tramlink LRVs in the last 18 months. The units, 20 bidirectional and seven unidirectional, will be designed and entirely manufactured at the Albuixech plant in Valencia.

The contract is valued at 125 million Swiss francs (about 114 million euros) and includes spare parts and special tools. The deliveries, which will take place between 2023 and 2025, will make it possible to replace the vehicles that have reached the end of their service life, thus increasing the frequency of services on line 9 of the network.

Bernmobil LRVs will be 42.5 m long and 2.3 m wide, and will have a maximum capacity of 260 passengers. Their metre-gauge bogies are designed to run quietly on the very small-radius curves of the medieval historic centre of the city.

The units, modular and multi-articulated, will be equipped with passenger information systems, rear-view cameras instead of rear-view mirrors, and an air conditioning system that measures the carbon dioxide in the passenger compartment to minimise the energy consumption.
