Nine French cities join now Renfe Viajes’ booking system to combine AVE trains with hotels and leisure activities. Together with the rail services to travel to France on Renfe’s high speed trains, there are now more than a thousand accommodation options, guided visits, tickets for museums and aquariums, or the ‘city card’ to tour the cities.
With this combination, passengers have the option to discover and enjoy destinations like Lyon, Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Perpignan, Montpellier, Narbonne or Nîmes with an integrated offer to complete all the needs of the trip at the destination beyond the train ticket.
French market
The first phase of Renfe’s entry into the French market started on 13 July 2023 with the launch of its first AVE train operated on its own between Lyon and Barcelona, with departures from Friday to Monday (see piece of news), although tickets had previously gone on sale on 21 June 2023. Some weeks later, on 28 July 2023, AVE services between Madrid and Marseille began (see piece of news), and in October of that same year, this route started to be operated on a daily basis (see piece of news).
