World rail experts will meet in Spain at MAFEX’s III International Convention

(30/05/2011)  Experts, technicians and professionals from more than 50 companies worldwide will attend this event to get a closer look to technological innovations in the Spanish rail industry. A complete agenda of activities and business meetings has been scheduled for such purpose.

Through the convention’s four days, international delegates will meet with representatives of the main companies associated to MAFEX. The aim is to improve cooperation in new rail projects, as well as to study the possibility of opening new business lines.

Rail Spain

MAFEX’s III International Convention will take place within the framework of Rail Spain, which will be hosting the II Rail International Conference and Exhibition, with some space for company exhibition. Both events will take place at the Palacio de Congresos in Zaragoza.

Representatives of rail companies from Spain’s main export destinations, as well as future priority markets, will meet at MAFEX’s III International Convention. From Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru and Dominican Republic; from Europe: Russia, Turkey, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, among others; and from other such destinations as the United States, China, Korea, India, Indonesia, Egypt, Oman and Thailand.

Some of the companies and administrations attending this Convention are the following: MRS Logística S.A. from Brazil; Colombia’s Northern Railways (FENOCO) from Chile, and the Regional Transport Office from the Dominican Republic. Also, Alstom Transport Train Life Services from the United Stated will be attending.

European participation will come from the delegates of the Ministry of Transportation and National Railways of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Czech Republic, Ankara Metro and Tulomsas locomotive company from Turkey.

Asian delegates from main rail administrations and companies have also shown interest in participating at MAFEX’s III International Convention: CSR Corporation Limited from China; Hyundai Rotem Company from Korea; Tata Projects Limited from India; and Thai Railways (SRT).

Technical visits

In parallel to the Conventions, technical visits to several companies and facilities will also take place. This scheme responds to the interest of the attendees in the Spanish experience implementing its modern rail network, and in technological advances developed within the different activity areas of the sector.

MAFEX: Promoting Rail Export

MAFEX’s III International Convention takes place in a key moment for the Spanish rail industry: over the past year it has significantly increased its presence in international markets.

In 2010 exports from companies associated to MAFEX, representing 85% of the sector, raised to 3,009 million Euros, out of which 53% were exclusively rail products and services (1,584 million Euros).

Being aware of the importance of foreign markets for the development of the Spanish rail industry worldwide, MAFEX, together with the organization of the III International Convention, has scheduled an intense calendar of activities in 2011, including trade delegations and participation in the sector’s most relevant events.

The main objective of such activities is to spread its companies’ technological capacity, and contribute to their wider presence in international rail projects.
