(30/09/2015)  The contract amounts to 1.7 million euros and involves the inspection of the rail tunnels in the regions of Liguria and Calabria in order to complete the maintenance work that RFI carries out regularly.

In Liguria, which has 499 km of rail network, Euroconsult will inspect more than 265 tunnels; while in the 852 km network of Calabria over 170 tunnels will be inspected. Works are expected to last for six months.

A year ago Euroconsult made an in situ demonstration of its Tunnelings tunnel inspection technology for RFI. This technology consists of a moving vehicle travelling at a speed of up to 40 kilometres per hour, on which are coupled six laser cameras that perform a three-dimensional map of the tunnel for possible damage or type of failure.
