A consortium including Isolux Corsan to build two sections of Mecca Metro



A consortium comprising Isolux Corsan, the Turkish company Kolin İnşaat Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret and the Saudi Haif company, has been appointed as "preferred bidder" for the construction project of lines B and C of Mecca Metro.

(29/07/2015)  The contract, which has an overall budget of more than 2,300 million euros, involves the construction of lines B and C. Line B section is 11.9 km long and will have three stations. Line C section is 13 km long and, in addition to the construction of 6 stations, involves the completion of two big interchange stations.

The scope of the contract includes civil work, access ramps, grand roofs and canopies, interchange stations and tunnels. As regards tunnel construction, there will be 19,616 m of mined tunnels; 8,740 m of TBM tunnels; and 4,105 m of cut-and-cover tunnels. The project also involves the execution of more than 1,175 m of viaducts, as well as pedestrian underpasses.

In addition, the demolition of existing structures and facilities, traffic control, road diversions, utilities identification and relocations, and all other enabling works will be required.
