Belo Horizonte Metro trains, manufactured by CAF and equipped with Ametsis’ Sicode-EP derailment detector, will enter commercial service in the next few days, after having overcome on-track tests.

(14/07/2015)  Sicode-EP is a system designed and manufactured by Ametsis which quickly and reliably detects the derailment of any train car. The technology applied is based on a pneumatic-mechanical device whose action principle is an inertial system that can be adjusted according to the type of vehicle and its suspension.

In order to apply emergency braking, the Sicode-EP system has a switch connected to the wire of the safety loop so that, after the equipment being tripped, a signal is sent to the train’s electronic control system and emergency braking is applied.

The Sicode-EP system, which incorporates a manual verification system in order to carry out periodic running tests, has easy implementation and maintenance and can be adapted to all types of vehicles and operations.

Sicode-EP does not need electricity, batteries, electronics, software, microprocessors or complex telecommunications; therefore it does not suffer electromagnetic incompatibilities.
