(14/07/2015)  Astana LRT, a local government body, has commissioned Typsa to develop the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project as a first step in the Kazakh capital’s transport plan currently under development. The project aims to provide the city with a public transportation service as an alternative to the car.

The project includes 22 stations and 22.7 kilometres of independent BRT lines from Astana airport to the new railway station. It also involves a logistics centre with a total of 14 buildings that will house the facilities necessary for parking, maintenance operations, refuelling, a workshop, and an operations centre.

Phase 1 (Red Line) is currently under development and is viewed as a pilot project that will serve as a pillar for the installation of this transport system throughout the city of Astana. The design of new transport systems and the preparation of a project schedule for their implementation are expected later. In parallel, the first phase of an intelligent transportation system for the main streets of the city is to be implemented.
