The Centre will be located in the technology park in the Basque town of Zamudio, close to Bilbao, and its main lines of research will be user safety in lifts and escalators through applications based on computer vision and artificial intelligence technologies, as well as twofold energy efficiency: generating electrical power during lift operation and its subsequent storage for future use.
ETS, infrastructure manager in the Basque Country, will be pioneer in implementing these technologies. To support these lines of research, ThyssenKrupp Elevator will establish partnership agreements with suppliers and technology partners, as well as the industry, university and R&D&I structure in the Basque Country.
