(13/09/2018)
The Government of the state of Victoria has awarded the works to the Rail Infrastructure Alliance consortium, which also includes construction companies CPB Contractors and John Holland, engineering company Aecom, Rail Projects Victoria and operational franchisee Metro Trains Melbourne. Construction is expected to commence in late 2018 and be completed in 2025.

This is the fourth works package for the Metro Tunnel Project and covers the existing Sunbury rail line between the western tunnel entrance in Kensington and Tottenham, and the current Dandenong rail line between the eastern tunnel entrance in South Yarra and Caulfield Station. Works include the design and construction of the infrastructure that will connect the Metro Tunnel in South Yarra and Kensington.
