The supply involves two contracts, one for three Euro 4001 locomotives acquired directly by VFLI and nine acquired by Alpha Trains to be used by VFLI. One of the signed contracts includes the acquisition by VFLI of the prototype of the Eurodual locomotive that Stadler is using for the homologation of this new platform in France and Belgium.

This locomotive can run in electric operation mode on electrified lines at 25kV AC and at 1.5kV DC with a power of up to 7,000 kW as well as on non-electrified lines in diesel mode with a power of 2,800 kW. The vehicles will be used in rail freight services in France and Belgium.
