CAF to supply 27 trams to the Dutch city of Utrecht

(24/02/2015)  The CAF units proposed for Utrecht belong to the Urbos platform, consisting of five 100% low-floor modules. This is a bidirectional vehicle with 4 double doors per sidewall designed to run at a service speed of 70 km/h. The units can accommodate up to 216 passengers who will benefit from state-of-the-art video entertainment and passenger information systems (interior and exterior passenger information screens, emergency intercoms, etc.).

The first trams are scheduled for delivery to the Nieuwegein depot in 2017, and passenger service is due to start mid-2018. The new line will be 8 km long and comprise 9 stops, with an estimated project cost of €440m.
