The members of the Committee visited the Comprehensive Transportation Management Centre of Madrid (CITRAM), which coordinates the different modes of transport, more than forty operators in total in the Madrid region.
These facilities operate on a 24/7 basis to manage the 5,000 vehicles of the public transport providing daily service throughout the region, 6,000 information boards and 20,000 surveillance cameras.
The representatives of the Norwegian capital also visited Madrid’s network of interchange stations as well as intermodal stations such as Moncloa and Príncipe Pío, in order to study the potential implementation of their solutions to the extension plans of the public transport in Oslo.
Oslo currently has a metro network of 62 kilometres with six lines and ninety stations, which is expected to be extended including the construction of a large new station in the city centre.
