Last phase of INVOLVE European mobility project

The Madrid Regional Transport Consortium (Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid) has entered the final phase of the European project INVOLVE, whose aim is to identify good practices of public-private partnership in mobility management and transfer them to local authorities.

Last phase of INVOLVE European mobility project

(14/07/2014)  The Madrid Regional Transport Consortium is one of the twelve partners of this three-year project, which started in 2012 and whose budget amounts to 1.85 million euros.

At the end of the year the results of all the actions implemented in the project will be presented and summarised in the “Regional Implementation Plans”, focused on the different areas in which the private sector can collaborate in mobility management.

From the beginning, the partners have identified and analysed 46 good practices, performed 32 study visits and an impressive amount of knowledge has been exchanged thanks to the participation of 250 experts and representatives of the mobility sector.

In addition, five pilot projects are being carried out at the same time in five cities: Madrid, Reggio Emilia, Birmingham, Roermond and Maribor, in order to evaluate the improvement brought by these transport actions in areas of economic activity.

Workshops

The Madrid Regional Transport Consortium has recently received the visit of experts from the Birmingham’s Transport Authority and the Erasmus University Rotterdam to conduct various workshops on exchange of good practices.

The first workshop consisted in presenting UK stations’ plans to the stations of the Madrid commuter network, promoting access to train stations in sustainable ways or other modes of public transport and improving the signalling of these hubs and their surroundings.

The second workshop was focused on training for managers of companies, who acquired basic knowledge to de¬tect mobility problems in their environment, elaborate and implement a travel plan for their company, improve home-work travel and assess the company on tax/financial benefits regarding mobility issues.
