The five-year contract, which is the second signed by the Brazilian operator with CAF, amounts to 79.7 million Brazilian reais (approximately 26.5 million euros), about 20 million reais (or 6.64 million euros) below the tender price.
CAF Brazil will be in charge of the short-cycle and long-cycle preventive and corrective maintenance of these electric trains that comprise the operator’s original fleet, as well as all the machinery and equipment in Trensurb’s workshops.
CAF technicians and supervisors are soon expected to arrive in the city to start the training process for workers, a process that will be completed in about two weeks.
Trensurb plans to immediately put out an invitation to tender for the maintenance contract of the fifteen new Series 200 trains, which are currently being manufactured and tested.
