This corridor is currently under construction and will cover a distance of 1,839 km across the entire north-eastern region of the Asian country, linking the cities of Ludhiana in the Punjab region, and Dankuni near Kolkata in the West Bengal region.
The project, which is funded by the World Bank, is one of a series of rail corridors that are being upgraded to increase the Indian railway system’s transport capacity and quality of service.
Two local engineering firms, Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats (ICT) and Barsyl, a railway specialist, joint Typsa in the consortium.
