Isolux Corsán and Alstom to build and equip the first tramway line in Mostaganem (Algeria)



Isolux Corsán and Alstom will build and equip the first tramway line in the Algerian city of Mostaganem. The 14-km line will include 24 stations and will have the capacity to serve a population of 150,000 inhabitants.

(29/10/2013)  The consortium formed by Corsán-Corviam Construcción and Isolux Ingeniería (72%) and Alstom (28%) will be building this 250 M€ -budget turnkey project, which has a 40- month completion time.

The contract, awarded by Enterprise Metro D’Alger (EMA), involves building a complete rail transport system, except for the rolling stock, measuring 14.20 km in length, divided into two sections.

The first of these two sections, the Salamandre-Kharouba section, is 12.2 km in length and includes 20 stations,, making it possible to transport 3,300 passengers / hour in both directions. The other section, the Gare SNTF-La Nouvelle Gare Routière section, is 2 km long and includes 4 stations, making it possible to transport 5,000 passengers / hour in each direction.

The project also includes creating 6 bus-tram transfer points and 10 parking lots, as well as the urban development of different areas. A maintenance centre covering an area of 12 hectares will also be built for the operating tasks and will house the tram depot, the shops and an office building.
