17 projects selected in Spain under the Connecting Europe Facility
   
 
  

The European Commission initially approved a total of 17 projects to receive grants of the 2016 Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) call. The grants were formally approved by the CEF Committee that met in Brussels on 6 July 2017.

The Spanish projects will receive grants which amount to 81.3 million euros in total. Some of these projects are shared with other countries and mean an investment of 198.3 million euros in Spain.

At the two previous CEF calls under the current framework, the Commission granted 890 million euros for investments in Spain out of a total of 9,500 million euros approved for the whole Europe.

The amount of the projects initially approved by the European Commission is 81,331,079 euros. These are the 17 projects with the value of the grants in millions of euros:

  • Retrofit of onboard ERTMS in Renfe's vehicles – 11.25
  • FPSII: Advanced deployment of innovative solutions to improve railway traffic management & operation on the Core Network – 1.75
  • Demonstration study of infrastructure associated with an innovative LNG traction solution in a railway operation – 2.33
  • ECO-GATE: European COrridors for natural GAs Transport Efficiency – 9.86
  • E-VIA - FLEX-E mobility – 0.76
  • 2016 SESAR Deployment Programme implementation - Cluster 1: General – 34.91
  • C-Roads Spain – 8.99
  • MedTIS III – 2.70
  • Arc Atlantique Phase 3 – 0.80
  • CONCORDA – 0.80
  • Removal of bottlenecks in Cartagena's port & improvement of urban traffic (studies) – 0.65
  • Linking Zaragoza: Urban connectivity with the Core Network – 0.71
  • Remodelling of the Madrid Chamartin railway complex to adapt it to high speed services – 1.60
  • Studies for rehabilitating the Pau-Zaragoza cross-border railway section – 1.99
  • Cross-Border road link in the Atlantic Corridor: A25-IP5 Vilar Formoso-A-62 Fuentes de Oñoro – 1.29
  • Study of gauges in Railway Corridors for "Rail Motorways" services – 0.75
  • Atlantic Rail Motorway: Modal shift of all types of semi-trailers on the Atlantic corridor – 0.76
