The project, which amounts to £300m (about €348m), involves the central section of the line, 100 km of the total 225 km-long railway. The section begins north of the Euston station, located in the outskirts of London, and runs all the way to Birmingham Airport.
Ferrovial Agroman’s scope of activities include utility diversions, ecology and environmental surveys, archaeology, ground remediation, ecoducts and watercourse activities, road relocation, drainage and structural reinforcement, among others. Works will begin in early 2017.
In the rural counties of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, the historical interest of many sites will bring extensive archaeological and digging up work, as well as environmental challenges.
