The European R&D&i project MobiWallet, which includes the participation of 15 partners coordinated by Indra, represents major progress toward an integrated single mobile payment solution for different modes of urban transport, which can even extend across European borders.
The various systems developed are being tested in cities such as Santander in Spain, Pisa and Florence in Italy, Novi Sad in Serbia and the West Midlands region of the United Kingdom.
MobiWallet aims to improve transport in Europe by allowing the combined use of public and private transport, as well as additional services to make for better mobility and render transport smarter and more sustainable. In addition to offering integrated payments, the solution allows multi-modal route planning, smart fare selection, the use of augmented reality to access transport or environmental real-time information, parking availability and car sharing opportunities.
