Feve to collaborate in the implementation of a tram train in Riviera Maya

Feve will collaborate in the implementation of a new metropolitan railway in Mexico, a tram train that will link different sites in the tourist hub of Riviera Maya. Located on the eastern portion of the Yucatán Peninsula, that area receives the highest number of tourists in the whole Mexico and has the strongest population growth within the country.

To achieve this goal, a framework cooperation agreement was signed in order to study the viability of a train system linking the city of Cancun, on the north-east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, and Tulum, about 120 km south along the coast line.

The collaboration agreement covers strategic development, operational management, personnel training and technical assistance aimed at optimizing train service in the area. The deal also involves the sale of equipment and technology transfers deemed appropriate by both institutions.

The tourist corridor on which the line would operate comprises the municipalities of Cozumel, Solidaridad, Benito Juárez, Isla Mujeres and Tulum. In this area the new railway would play a key strategic role in the transportation of both residents and visitors.
