The units, which are destined for freight transport in France and Belgium, are scheduled for shipment starting from January 2013 and are worth a total amount of €21 million.
The EURO 4000, Europe’s most powerful diesel-electric locomotive, is powered by a turbocharged 16-cylinder two-stroke engine manufactured by the American company Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD), which allows to develop power of 3200 kW (4300 CV).
The EURO 4000, of 120 tons of weight, can cover distances of up to 2,000 km without having to refuel and permits the transport of very heavy freights and long distances with a top speed of 120 km/h for freight transport and 160 km/h for passenger transport.
In addition to this order, as many as 77 units designed and manufactured at Vossloh plant in Albuixech (Valencia) have already been sold to destinations including Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, France, Germany, Belgium and Israel, which proves the success of the EURO 4000.
