Barcelona held a workshop on the future of urban public transport systems, metros, trams and commuter trains, which was organised by the Spanish Railway Association (Mafex) with the support of Icex España Exportación e Inversiones.

The conferences were attended by representatives of Spanish administrations as well as from Ecuador, Finland, Mexico, Ireland, Thailand, United Kingdom, Colombia, Panama, Czech Republic, Iran and Kazakhstan.
In addition to the presentations, the program included over 190 individual meetings between the 40 participating Spanish companies and the foreign representatives, who paid 35 technical visits to national companies’ facilities and transport networks like Barcelona Metro.
The workshop focused on the opportunities offered by public rail transport systems worldwide; and individual meetings were held in order to get to know activities, technologies and experiences as well as to analyse potential collaborations between administrations and companies in the sector.
